ELDER BOOK to be HANDED OVER to Min.of Justice (FINLAND)
by RagingBull injehovah's witnesses to hand over top-secret manualon friday finland's jehovah's witnesses will give their religious rule book to the minister of justice and the minister of the interior so that it can be inspected to ensure that it's in line with finnish rule of law.
jehovah's witnesses will hand over their secret rule book to the minister of justice, anna-maja henriksson, and the minister of the interior, paivi rasanen.
image: heikki saukkomaa / lehtikuva until now, only senior members of the jehovahs witnesses committee have had access to the congregation's secret book of rules.. the disciplinary activities of the jehovah's witnesses committee have been criticised for violating human rights.. according to anna-maja henriksson, finland's minister of justice, the purpose of the handover is to examine the book and determine whether its rules and regulations run counter to finnish law.. henriksson and interior minister paivi rasanen met on thursday with the leadership of the jehovah's witnesses in helsinki.

Jehovah's Witness Tragedy - a series of installments.
by Julia Orwell ini'm working on a short story/novella about a jw family.
it's called the opal ring.
i will be posting it in installments, and would like some feedback on it.

Great stuff, Julia! Fast paced, totally relatable to the ex-JW. Looking forward to more!
There is such a sad, creepy undertone to the story, the lack of feeling in the JW characters-- that mindless devotion to the org--
your writing style and story is reminiscent of John Steinnbeck, nice work. :)

There are so many excellent portions of the book, CoC.
I like Ray's point on p.41 (fourth edition) where he asks, "do scriptural examples themselves urge against disclosure of wrongs where these involve those in high places of authority? It does not seem so, since the work of the Hebrew prophets frequently focused on such ones, those prophets making known the ways in which Israel's leaders and men in authority, even high priests, had strayed from God's standards with resulting problems. Jehovah's witnesses have often pointed to such candor and openness as one of the evidences that the Bible is truthful, genuinely God's book."
I also like the ending of chapter 10' where he quotes from an apology given by Herbert Armstrong's Worldwide Church of God, where they mentioned their flawed doctrinal understandings and unscriptural practices. If you read this letter without the background information, it sounds exactly like the sort of apology the WTS could and should have written, but probably never will.

Having It Both Ways
by Perry ini posted this 10 years ago.
here is an updated version fresh for the 2012 holidays :.
1. jehovahs witnesses claim to have no clergy and hence are supposed to be totally unlike christendoms' rulers who get special reverence and lord it over their brothers.

Why do I bother to wake up in the morning?
by punkofnice ini'm not suicidal just fed up.. i did think of suicide (briefly), but as there is no painless way and it's not something i would willingly do just in case things would have been better the day after.
i do have a slight grain of hope.. money problems.....problems at home (that's another matter with a son up court for something he is adamant he didn't do.
first offence but the pigs police and the cps have got charges made.

Geez, I so know your feelings, PunkOfNice, and all the regrets from living a life of someone else's delusion, which became even their enforced delusion.
It hurts. And it sucks. But today the sun is shining and the snow is melting and the birds are singing happily -- I know it sounds corny, but sometimes it really is the small things.
Whatever happens with your son, he is his own person and adult. All you can do is support him and be there for him. And hopefully the balances in the universe will make it all right for him... and that the justice balance will be in his favour. I don't know what to think about god anymore, so right now things are all about "universal balance" for me. Those thoughts may change as I continue this journey from the cult.

What JW beliefs did you used to hate trying to defend?
by DuvanMuvan inas one of the jw "young ones" i was always expected to witness to my friends at school if i wanted to make god's heart glad or whatever but i didn't.
the closest i ever got was just explaining why we didn't celebrate christmasetc.
even then i was just reciting things i read in publications.. one topic i always tried to avoid talking about was birthdays.
